Caring for Orphans
Living 127, Inc. partners with Christian-run orphanages in Latin America to provide personal hygiene items, school supplies, and musical instruments. All supplies are purchased in the country where the orphanage is located. This helps support their local economy and is more cost effective than shipping from the USA. We budget a certain dollar amount per child and provide a supply list to the orphanage director to select the items and quantity we will purchase. Living 127 works with the orphanage to monitor usage and replenish supplies. Homes are visited between one and four times per year, or we coordinate through local American missionaries for assistance.
Hygiene: Our goal is to provide an ongoing supply of personal hygiene items for each child living in the orphanage. These hygiene items include such things as; soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.
School Supplies: There is no greater tool in keeping a child out of poverty than getting an education. Not every child has the ability or privilege to attend school in Latin America. Many areas are lacking educational resources, which makes the learning process very difficult. For this reason, Living 127 is committed to providing supplies, such as; backpacks, paper, pencils, notebooks, uniforms, etc.
Musical Instruments: Music has the ability to bring joy to a child's life. When children learn to play and instrument, they perform better in school, along with experiencing an increased confidence and self-esteem. Living 127 recognizes the valuable gift music can provide. The typical instruments for our orphanages include guitars, keyboards, and various percussion.
